Learnerships

Learnerships in South Africa are structured programs that provide a unique blend of theoretical education and practical work experience. They are part of the government’s efforts to tackle youth unemployment and skills shortages across key industries. Learnerships lead to nationally recognized qualifications, accredited by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA), and are aligned with the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).

Typically lasting between 12 and 24 months, learnerships offer participants the opportunity to gain valuable work experience while earning a stipend. They are open to unemployed South Africans, especially young people, and sometimes to current employees seeking formal qualifications.
