About the Afrimat Bursary Programme 2026/2027

Afrimat Iron Ore (Pty) Ltd invites Northern Cape students to apply for the 2026 Afrimat Bursary Programme. The bursary supports studies at Higher Certificate, National Diploma, BTech, or Bachelor’s Degree level in the following fields:
Engineering Fields
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mining Engineering
- Metallurgical Engineering
Operations-Related Fields
(N4–N6 Certificates also accepted)
- Geology
- Environmental Studies
- Safety
- Information Technology (IT)
- Human Resources (HR)
Selection Process
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. If you do not receive communication from Afrimat, please consider your application unsuccessful.
Eligibility Requirements for Afrimat Bursary Application 2026/2027
To qualify, applicants must meet all the following criteria:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must reside in the Northern Cape
- Must have completed Matric
- Must be studying towards a Higher Certificate, National Diploma, BTech, or Bachelor’s Degree in one of the listed fields
- Must be registered at a recognised, accredited South African tertiary institution (University, Higher Education Institution, or TVET College)
- Must have obtained a minimum average of 60% in the current academic year
- Must be medically fit in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act and company standards
- Preference will be given to applicants from JTG and Tsantsabane communities
- Preference also applies to historically disadvantaged groups, in line with Afrimat’s Employment Equity commitments
