About Allan Gray Orbis Fellowship Bursary Programme 2026/2027
Fields Covered
The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation invites students to apply for the 2026 Academic Year Fellowship Programme.
Bursaries (referred to as Fellowships) will be awarded for undergraduate studies in the following fields, at selected partner universities (WITS, UJ, UCT, NMU, RU, UWC, SU, UP, UFS, UKZN or TSiBA):
- Arts
- Commerce
- Engineering
- Health Science (excluding Medicine, Dentistry, and Veterinary Science)
- Humanities
- Law
- Science
The goal of the Fellowship is to support future entrepreneurs by providing financial assistance, mentorship, and opportunities for personal and professional growth. Successful applicants will become Candidate Allan Gray Fellows.
Benefits Of The Fellowship – Expenses Covered
The level of financial support depends on household income:
- Household income < R1 million per year → full funding (tuition, accommodation, meals, textbooks, allowance, tutoring, and counselling).
- Household income between R1m – R1.5m per year → tuition, accommodation, meals, tutoring, and counselling.
- Household income > R1.5m per year → tuition, tutoring, and counselling.

Eligibility Requirements for Allan Gray Orbis Fellowship Bursary Application 2026/2027
To apply, you must:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Be 21 years old or younger in 2026.
- Be in Matric in 2026.
- Have achieved:

- At least 70% overall average in Grade 11 (excluding Life Orientation).
