To be considered for the BASF Bursary 2026, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must be female
  • Must be Black (African, Coloured, or Indian, as defined by BBBEE codes)
  • Must be studying in Chemistry, Engineering, or Sciences
  • Must be registered at a recognised and accredited University or University of Technology in South Africa
  • Must have completed the 1st year of study and be entering the 2nd year or higher in 2026
  • Must demonstrate financial need and meet NSFAS funding criteria
  • Must have a strong academic record
  • Must not have a criminal record in any country
  • Must not be receiving any other bursary, scholarship, or financial aid (except NSFAS)

Failure to meet even one of these requirements will result in disqualification.
