Bursary Coverage, Renewal and Selection
The bursary covers the following expenses (up to R40,000 per year):

Bursaries are valid for 1 academic year at a time and may be renewed annually based on academic performance.

Eligibility Requirements for City of Johannesburg Bursary Application 2026/2027
To qualify for the City of Johannesburg Bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a South African citizen
- Permanently reside in Johannesburg, Gauteng
- Be currently in Matric or have already completed Matric
- Be studying or planning to study full-time towards an undergraduate qualification in one of the approved fields (postgraduate courses are not funded)
- Course must be at least 1 year in duration
- Be registered or intend to register at a recognised South African tertiary institution
- Have a strong academic record
- Not currently receiving another bursary, grant, or funding for your studies
