- Must be a South African citizen or a naturalised South African citizen
- Must be between 16 and 25 years old
- Must reside in the Eastern Cape Province, specifically in a township or village
- Must have completed Matric
- Must have achieved at least 60% in Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy)
- Must have achieved at least 60% in all other Matric subjects
- Must be studying or intending to study full-time towards an undergraduate qualification in 2026
- Must have applied and been accepted or provisionally accepted at a recognised and accredited South African university
- Must intend to pursue postgraduate studies after completing undergraduate studies
- Must be from a disadvantaged background and demonstrate financial need (a financial needs assessment will be conducted)
- Must not be receiving any other bursary funding
- Must not be under obligation to any other bursary provider
Special encouragement is given to:
- Students living with disabilities
