About Finsch Diamond Mine Bursary Programme 2026/2027
Fields Covered
Finsch Diamond Mine is offering bursaries for the 2026 academic year. These bursaries are available to students living in the mine’s local labour sending areas in the Northern Cape province.
Funding will be awarded for studies in the following fields:
- Computer Science (BSc)
- Information Systems (BSc)
- Technology & Engineering (BSc)
Bursary Coverage, Work Commitments & Selection
The bursary provides full coverage of:
- Tuition fees
- Accommodation in residence
- Meals (or an equivalent allowance)
Recipients must complete compulsory vacation work at the mine during the December and January holidays.
After graduation, students are required to work for Petra Diamonds (Pty) Ltd for the same number of years they received bursary funding.
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted within 30 days after the closing date. As part of the selection process, applicants must complete pre-screening, profile testing, mine assessments, medical checks, security clearance, and attend a panel interview.
Eligibility Requirements for Finsch Diamond Mine Bursary Application 2026/2027
To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Reside in the local labour sending area of Finsch Diamond Mine (Northern Cape).
- Be studying or planning to study towards one of the approved qualifications.
- Be registered or accepted at a recognised South African university.
- Achieve at least level 6 for Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy) in mid-year exams.
- Achieve at least level 6 for Physical Science in mid-year exams.
- Achieve a minimum APS (Admission Point Score) of 35.
- Current university students must have a strong academic record.
Preference will be given to:
- Students from Finsch Mine’s host municipalities: Danielskuil, Kuruman, and Kimberley.
- Senior students (although first-years will still be considered).
- Female students from designated groups, in line with the company’s Employment Equity Policy and internal candidates.
