About Globeleq Scholarship Fund (GSF) 2026/2027
The Globeleq Scholarship Fund (GSF) was launched in 2014 and is managed by Globeleq South Africa Management Services (GSAMS). Since its inception, the fund has awarded over R10.3 million in bursaries and scholarships. Funding is provided by Globeleq’s Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and one of its shareholders, the Globeleq Education Trust (GET).
The programme aims to empower South African youth by improving access to higher education, particularly in fields aligned with renewable energy, critical skills development, and community upliftment.
Fields Covered by the Globeleq Scholarships 2026/2027
Globeleq invites eligible students to apply for four different scholarship categories for the 2026 academic year:
1. Globeleq GSF Engineering Sciences
This scholarship supports students pursuing qualifications in:
- Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (N3 – N6)
- Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronic Engineering (National Diploma or BTech)
- Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronic Engineering (BEng or BSc)
2. Globeleq GSF Other Sciences
Available to students residing in the Eastern Cape and Northern Cape, this category supports studies (Higher Certificates, Diplomas, or Degrees) in:
- Agriculture
- Education (Mathematics and Science)
- Nursing
3. Globeleq GSF Communities Scholarship
Awarded to students living within 50km of selected wind or solar farms, this scholarship supports Degree or Certificate studies in any field.
4. Globeleq Education Trust (GET)
Similar to the Communities Scholarship, this award supports students residing within 50km of specific renewable energy projects, for Degree or Certificate studies in any discipline.
What the Globeleq Scholarships Cover
Successful applicants will receive funding for:
- Registration fees
- Tuition fees
- Prescribed textbooks and stationery
- Accommodation and meals
Additional academic support may also be provided, subject to approval by the GSF Committee.
Please note that recipients of the Engineering Sciences Scholarship will be required to sign a work-back agreement with Globeleq after graduation.

Eligibility Requirements for Globeleq Scholarships Application 2026/2027
Applicants must meet all minimum requirements for their chosen scholarship category. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
1. Engineering Sciences Scholarship
Applicants must:
- Be South African citizens
- Have completed Matric
- Be studying full-time towards an approved engineering qualification
- Be entering 2nd year or higher in 2026 (excluding bridging or extended programmes)
- Be registered at a recognised South African institution
- Show interest in renewable energy
- Be unemployed and have no prior full-time work experience
2. Other Sciences Scholarship
Applicants must:
- Be South African citizens
- Be born in or reside in the Northern Cape or Eastern Cape
- Have completed Matric
- Be studying Education, Agriculture, or Nursing
- Be entering 2nd year or higher in 2026
- Be enrolled or intending to enrol at an accredited institution
- Be interested in renewable energy
- Be unemployed
3. Communities Scholarship Fund
Applicants must:
- Be South African citizens
- Live within 50km of specified solar or wind farms
- Be in Matric or have completed Matric
- Be studying or intending to study full-time in any field
- Be entering 1st year or higher in 2026
- Be registered or planning to register at an accredited institution
- Be unemployed and interested in renewable energy
4. Globeleq Education Trust
Eligibility requirements are the same as the Communities Scholarship Fund.

Applications must be submitted online via the official Globeleq Scholarship Application portal.
