About Institute for Landscape Architecture in South Africa (ILASA)
The Institute for Landscape Architecture in South Africa (ILASA) is a professional body dedicated to promoting and representing the Landscape Architecture profession in the country. Comprising three regional bodies, ILASA Gauteng, ILASA KZN, and ILASA Cape, the institute serves as a unified voice for members nationwide.
ILASA’s mission is to advance the recognition and demand for Landscape Architecture services across both the private and public sectors. The organization is officially registered with the South African Council for the Landscape Architectural Profession (SACLAP), ensuring high professional standards and ethical practice within the field.
About ILASA Bursary Programme 2026/2027
Fields Covered
The ILASA Bursary Programme 2026 is open to students pursuing a Degree in Landscape Architecture at either Undergraduate or Postgraduate level. Bursaries are available for students studying at SACLAP-accredited institutions, namely:
- University of Cape Town (UCT)
- University of Pretoria (UP)
- Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT)
- Tshwane University of Technology (TUT)
Bursary selection will be based on academic performance, financial need, university requirements, availability of funds, and compliance with the ILASA Bursary Policy.
Bursary Coverage and Selection Process
The ILASA Bursary provides partial financial support towards the following study expenses:
- Registration fees
- Tuition fees
- Residence fees (in exceptional cases)
Each student may receive a maximum of R40 000 per academic year. Funds are paid directly to the tertiary institution or service providers.
Final selection of bursary recipients will be made by the ILASA National Executive Committee (NEC), based on merit and financial circumstances.
Eligibility Requirements for ILASA Bursary Application 2026/2027
To qualify for the ILASA Bursary 2026, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a South African citizen or naturalised citizen
- Must be studying or intending to study Landscape Architecture (Undergraduate or Postgraduate level)
- Must be enrolled at one of the SACLAP-accredited institutions (UCT, UP, CPUT, or TUT)
- Must have achieved a minimum overall average of 60% in the previous academic year
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged students and students with disabilities

- Certified copy of your South African ID
- Certified copies of parents/guardians’ ID documents
- Certified proof of parents/guardians’ income (latest payslips, affidavit, or balance sheet if self-employed)
- Certified copy of your academic record or transcript from your current or previous institution
- Proof of acceptance at one of the accredited institutions (if available)
- Motivational letter detailing your academic achievements, financial need, and career aspirations
Applicants must also review the ILASA Bursary Agreement and Bursary Policy, as successful candidates will be required to sign these upon selection.
