Sasol Bursary Contract & Career Opportunities

After completing their studies, bursary recipients may be offered employment within the Sasol Graduate Development Programme. Postgraduate bursars could join as Scientists-in-Training or Engineers-in-Training.

The bursary includes a service contract, requiring students to work back a year for each year of bursary funding, depending on company needs. Shortlisted candidates will also undergo online assessments and panel interviews.

Eligibility Criteria for Sasol Bursary Application 2026/2027

Applicants must meet the following requirements based on the bursary category:

Undergraduate University Bursary
  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must be in or have completed Matric
  • Must be accepted or eligible to study full-time towards one of the approved BEng/BSc degrees in 2026
  • Must attend an accredited South African university (UNISA not eligible)
  • Academic requirements:
    • Mathematics: Minimum Level 6 (70–79%)
    • Physical Science: Minimum Level 6 (70–79%)
    • English: Minimum Level 5 (60–69%) for Home/First Additional Language or Level 4 (50–59%) for Second Additional Language
  • Current university students: must have passed all 2024 courses with at least 50% average
University of Technology Bursary
  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must be in or have completed Matric
  • Must intend to study full-time towards one of the BEng Tech qualifications listed above in 2026
  • Must study at an accredited South African University of Technology
  • Minimum academic results:

Postgraduate Bursary
  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must have completed Matric and hold a qualifying degree (BSc/BEng) in a related field

  • Must have a strong academic record and no criminal record
