About Safety and Security Sector Education and Training Authority (SASSETA)
The Safety and Security Sector Education and Training Authority (SASSETA) was established to promote education, training, and skills development within the safety and security industry. About the SASSETA Bursary Programme 2026/2027

SASSETA is inviting unemployed South African students to apply for the 2026 bursary programme under the Discretionary Grants funding window. The bursary aims to equip students with the education and skills required for the nation’s Economic Reconstruction and Recovery Plan (ERRP).

Bursary Coverage and Renewal
The SASSETA bursary provides comprehensive financial assistance, including:
- R80,000 per student (full-time) – covering tuition, textbooks, accommodation, and meals.
- R35,000 per student (part-time/distance learning) – covering tuition and textbooks.
The bursary is awarded for one academic year at a time and may be renewed annually, provided that the student passes at least 60% of their modules, including their major subject.

Eligibility Criteria for SASSETA Bursary Application 2026/2027
To qualify for the SASSETA Bursary 2026, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Must be a South African citizen between 18–35 years old
- Must have completed Matric
- Must be registered or accepted to study at a public university, university of technology, or TVET college (private institution students may apply only if their course is not offered at a public institution)
- Must have a household income not exceeding R600,000 per year
- Must be unemployed and not currently participating in another SASSETA-funded programme
- Preference will be given to female students, students with disabilities, and those without existing bursary or NSFAS funding
