- Must be registered full-time at the University of KwaZulu-Natal
- Must be studying within approved Spatial Humanities disciplines
- Must be willing to be based at Howard College Campus
- Must be willing to work collaboratively under project supervision
- Must be prepared to accept focused, project-defined research topics
- Must be willing to conduct fieldwork in uMlazi, Chatsworth, or Durban Central
- Must not be employed full-time
