Selection Process

Eligibility Requirements for GDARD Bursary Application 2026/2027

To qualify for the GDARD Bursary 2026, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must permanently reside in Gauteng (for at least 1 year prior to applying)
  • Must be from a previously disadvantaged background
  • Must be currently in Matric or have completed Matric
  • Must intend to study full-time towards one of the listed qualifications in 2026
  • Must be accepted or provisionally admitted at an accredited tertiary institution in Gauteng
  • Must demonstrate strong academic performance and potential
  • Must not be receiving another bursary
  • Must have achieved the minimum required marks per course of study (typically Level 5 in core subjects such as Mathematics, Physical Science, Chemistry, or English depending on the programme)

Preference will be given to:
