Founded in 1911, the Institution of Certificated Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, South Africa (ICMEESA) is the only learning and vocational institution in South Africa that caters specifically for certificated mechanical and electrical engineers. About ICMEESA Bursary Programme 2026/2027

Each year, ICMEESA awards bursaries to academically deserving students who meet the required criteria and are working towards obtaining a Certificate of Competency. The bursary aims to support students financially while encouraging excellence in the mechanical and electrical engineering professions.

Eligibility Requirements for ICMEESA Bursary Application 2026/2027

  • Must have completed Matric
  • Must be studying within one of the approved engineering fields
  • Must be in second year of study
  • Must be studying at a University, Technikon, or Technical College accredited by ECSA
  • Technikon students must have passed S1
  • Technical College students must have passed qualifying N3 subjects
  • Part-time or correspondence students must have achieved a minimum status equivalent to an S1 or N3 pass
Preference Will Be Given To:
  • Students who are direct descendants of ICMEESA members (priority is given to descendants of the longest-standing members)
  • Students who were previously awarded an ICMEESA bursary and have successfully passed their subjects
