What The Bursary Covers

The bursary provides full financial support, including:

Eligibility Requirements for Kumba Iron Ore Bursary Application 2026/2027

Applicants must meet these minimum requirements:

  • Be studying (or planning to study) towards an undergraduate degree in one of the listed fields.
  • Be entering 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year of study in 2026.
  • Be registered or provisionally accepted at a recognised and accredited South African university.
  • Have a strong academic record.
  • Be willing and able to complete vacation work in the Northern Cape during university holidays.
  • Have a valid Code B Driver’s License, or obtain one during the bursary period.
  • Gain operational mining experience during vacation work.
Preference Will Be Given To:
  • Students from Northern Cape communities near Kumba operations.
  • Candidates originating from the Northern Cape.
  • Differently abled students.
