About Sishen Iron Ore Company – Community Development Trust (SIOC-CDT)

The Sishen Iron Ore Company – Community Development Trust (SIOC-CDT) was established in 2006 to support the development of communities where SIOC (Pty) Ltd operates. SIOC operates across various municipal areas in the Northern Cape and Limpopo provinces and is a subsidiary of Kumba Iron Ore (Pty) Ltd.

Eligibility Criteria for SIOC-CDT Bursary Application in 2026/2027

To be considered, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

Be a South African citizen
Be 35 years old or younger as of the closing date
Be from one of the following SIOC-CDT beneficiary communities:
- Gamagara Local Municipality (Northern Cape)
- Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality (Northern Cape)
- Tsantsabane Local Municipality (Northern Cape)
- Joe Morolong Local Municipality (Northern Cape)
- Thabazimbi Local Municipality (Limpopo)
Be currently in Matric or have already completed Matric
Be planning to study part-time or full-time toward an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification
Be accepted or provisionally accepted to study at a public university, university of technology, TVET, or FET college in South Africa in 2026
Have achieved a minimum average of 65% in your most recent academic results
Have a combined household income of R600,000 or less (before deductions)
Be in genuine financial need
Students with disabilities are encouraged to apply
