Nelson Mandela University (NMU), formerly known as Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU), officially opened in 2005 after the merger of three institutions:

NMU is offering the Tegkor / NMU Accounting Bursary to students pursuing Accounting-related qualifications at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

1st Year Students:

2nd & 3rd Year Students:

The bursary amount depends on your year of study:

  • Currently studying full-time toward one of the qualifying Accounting programmes at NMU
  • Must achieve:
    • Minimum 70% average for first-year modules (if in 2nd year)
    • Minimum 65% average for second-year modules (if in 3rd year)
  • Must provide evidence of social/community involvement in 2024
  • Preference given to students in financial need (R350k – R600k household income range)
Postgraduate Applicants:
  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Enrolled in full-time postgraduate Accounting studies at NMU in 2026
  • Must be pursuing:
    • PGDA-CTA
    • PGDA
    • PGDIA
  • Achieved a:
    • Minimum 60% weighted average in 3rd-year undergrad OR
    • Minimum 55% weighted average in PGDA
