About The SABS Bursary Programme 2026/2027
Fields Covered
The SABS, in collaboration with the innobiz DUT Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, is offering bursaries for the 2026 academic year.
Bursaries are available for studies in the following fields:
- Commerce
- Engineering
- Information Technology / Computer Science
- Science
SABS Bursary Programme (Expenses Covered & Selection)
The bursary will provide funding for:
- Registration fees
- Tuition fees
- Prescribed books
- Accommodation
Funding will be capped at R150 000 per year.
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted within 4 weeks after the closing date. If you do not receive any feedback by then, please consider your application unsuccessful. Successful students will also be required to sign an agreement with SABS.
Eligibility Requirements for SABS Bursary Application 2026/2027
Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria (failure to meet all requirements will result in disqualification):
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must be under 25 years old
- Must have completed Matric
- Must be studying or intending to study full-time towards one of the listed fields (preferably undergraduate studies)
- Must be enrolled or accepted at a recognised and accredited South African tertiary institution
- Must have achieved a minimum overall average of 65% in recent studies (Matric or tertiary results)
- Must demonstrate financial need and lack of alternative funding for university studies
- Preference will be given to:

Step 2: Submit the following supporting documents (compulsory), via email to bongani.mabunda@sabs.co.za with the subject line “SABS Bursary 2026”:
- Certified copy of ID document
- Certified copy of Matric certificate (if 1st-year student)
- Certified copy of 2024 academic record/results (if currently studying)
- Acceptance letter for 2026 from a tertiary institution
- Certified copies of parents/guardians ID documents
- Certified proof of household income (latest payslips if employed/ affidavit if unemployed/ proof of pension or social grant – not older than 3 months)
