Bursary Value and Selection Process

Each bursary is worth up to R50,000 (excluding accommodation and other additional costs).

Eligibility Requirements for West Coast District Municipality Bursary Application for 2026/2027

Who Can Apply?

To qualify for this bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:

You or your parent/guardian must reside within the West Coast Municipal area.
You must be currently in Matric or have completed Matric.
You must be enrolled (or plan to enroll) in a full-time undergraduate degree or national diploma at a recognized South African university or university of technology (UNISA students may apply for part-time studies).
You must have obtained:
- At least 40% in Mathematics or 50% in Mathematical Literacy in Matric.
- A minimum average of 60% overall, or 50% overall with at least 60% in Mathematics.
Preference will be given to historically disadvantaged students and students living with disabilities.

- Latest Matric results (if currently in Matric)

- Proof of tertiary registration (on institution’s letterhead)
- Proof of permanent residence (for you and your parents/guardians)
- Parents’/guardians’ ID documents
- Proof of household income (latest payslips, 3-month bank statements, affidavits, grants, pensions, etc.)
- Affidavit if living with a guardian instead of parents
- Certified ID copies of other dependents in the household
- Motivational letter (max 1,000 words, handwritten) explaining your motivation for studying your chosen field and why you should be awarded the bursary

Note: All documents must be certified within the last 3 months. Applications will be marked incomplete until your final Matric results or latest transcript and proof of tertiary registration are submitted.
