The bursary provides support in the form of:

Selection process:

Shortlisted candidates will take part in a panel interview, a technical ability assessment, and psychometric assessments. If applicants do not receive feedback, they should consider their application unsuccessful.

Eligibility Requirements for Cenfri Bursary Application 2026/2027

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Be entering the final year of a Masters-level qualification in Economics or a related field in 2026.
  • Show a strong interest in research-related activities and development.
  • Have achieved a minimum GPA of 65% or higher in the most recent academic year.
  • Be an Employment Equity candidate.
  • Be in genuine financial need.
  • Have strong writing, presentation, interpersonal, quantitative, and analytical skills.

  • Be computer literate, especially in MS Office applications.
  • Be able to work both independently and in a team.
  • Knowledge of Stata and the ability to analyze household survey data will be an added advantage.
  • Preference will be given to students residing in Cape Town, to maximize the mentorship and workplace experience.
